The Child & Family Advocates, Inc. Co-parenting 101 Class was created for any couple (married or not) who is legally sharing children and establishing a co-parenting plan. Any couple who filed for divorce in Scott County Courts with children under 18 years of age must complete a Co-Parenting 101 course before a final court proceeding can take place.
Our class is the only FREE class provided to the community through grant funding.
1. The Co-Parenting Couple may not attend the same class session. Only one party in each couple is allowed to attend a class session. Registration is based on a first come, first served basis. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR THE CLASS BY CALLING TOM AT 812-913-5292. Classes take place at the Bacala Building located at 69 E Wardell St. on the South side of the square in Scottsburg, IN. Our services take place on the 2nd floor of the building. Our entrance is on the west side of the building, in the alley -- you will see our sign on the door. We do have access to an elevator for those needing assistance. Please call or text 812-913-5292 if you will need to use the elevator.
2. The class is for adults only. There is no childcare provided.
3. Only paid participants may attend the class. The class is open to anyone who pays the class fee. AT THIS TIME, THE CO-PARENTING CLASS IS FREE! A COMMUNITY GRANT HAS BEEN SECURED UNTIL JUNE 30, 2022. PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO COMPLETE AN ANONYMOUS SURVEY FOR THE GRANT.
4. Plan to arrive 5 minutes before the class begins. Class will start on time. Those late to class will have to come to the next session.
5. No video, audio recordings, or pictures are allowed.
6. Cell phones must be turned off for the class duration.
7. Class Cancelations: We reserve the right to cancel class in the event of inclement weather. Such announcements will be made on WMPI 105.3. We reserve the right to cancel class due to lack of participants. If this happens, you will be rescheduled to the next available class.
8. A Certificate of Completion will be provided at the end of the 2 hour class. Participants must take this Certificate of Completion to the court where the divorce was filed in order to meet the requirement of the court so that the final divorce hearing can be scheduled. There is a $5.00 administration fee for additional copies.
